Fiano “Masseria Altemura 2006 White wine dry, IGT. Salento, Masseria Altemura, Apulia - Italy
The wines of southern Italy are on the rise! And this no longer only applies to red wine - more and more southern Italian winegrowers are now also producing white wines of an international standard. Things get exciting when modern winemaking meets traditional grape varieties that are only found in the region.
One such “autochthonous” grape variety is the Fiano grape. It was already cultivated by the Romans, who called it “Vitis apiana” because of its special attraction to bees. This varietal Fiano is grown near the town of Manduria, famous for the best red wines made from the Primitivo grape.
Grape varieties: 100% varietal Fiano
Tasting: Straw-yellow, aromatic white wine with a brilliant bouquet of lime blossom, acacia, apple, peaches, pineapple and sage.
The fruity impressions are repeated on the palate, followed by a fresh but unobtrusive acidity.
A finesse-rich wine with an elegant structure, suitable for ageing, but also a real pleasure when drunk young!
Serving temperature: 8 - 10°C
Sommelier's recommendation: Thanks to its varied bouquet, this wine is a great accompaniment to light summer cuisine in moderately warm weather, but its good acid structure also makes it a refreshing aperitif wine on hot summer days.
